Unique Glass Art Hotel In Kosta Småland

The glass Kosta Boda Art Hotel  will open in June this summer, when 100 tons of glass will shimmer in Småland’s countryside. This region is also called “Kingdom of Crystal”. The artworks on the façade used 5 tons of glass and the billowing glass bar has used about 4 tons.

Kosta Boda Art Hotel has 105 different rooms, each of them characterised by the artistic expression of one of Kosta Boda’s designers. Each room is decorated with beautiful art glass and harmonising textiles.  If you want something a little more luxurious you should stay in the mini-suites or in the designer suites. A place that must be experienced in daylight and in darkness is the glass bar– an impressive piece of construction art in glass, designed by Kjell Engman, with a bar in cobalt blue and lamps with a magical light. Order specially composed drinks, listen to music or take part in glass testing.

In the middle of the hotel, a large spa section is taking form around a designed pool with shimmering blue glass tiles and a glass exhibition at the bottom. And if you want to, you can borrow a pair of goggles and have a closer look at the artworks.

The Kosta Boda Art Hotel glass bar will be an experience in itself with its walls, ceiling and counter all made out of glass. The bar is built in three floors and will have a 95 meters tall glass facade, without any visible joints.

The hotel restaurant, decorated by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien, will offer unusual entertainment in the form of the skilled Kosta Boda glass blowers. On a stage in the middle of the restaurant, they will blow and sculpt glass in front of an audience.

The restaurant will also have its own schnapps seasoning area, and tastings will be held where the guests can try different types of glasses for different types of drinks in order to see how the glass influences the taste experience.
