Top Roof Guided Tours In Stockholm
I decided to challenge myself with a Top Roof Guided Tour in Stockholm. An unforgettable experience, high above on the small island Riddarholmen in the city center surrounded by water. This time I wanted to get another angle of Stockholm: hidden sculptures and monuments placed on the roofs of Stockholm. And find out if this tour is as exciting as it looks like.
The guides met us in front of the church The Riddarholm Church, the final resting place of the Swedish kings and Stockholm’s only preserved medieval monastery church. Riddarholmen, literally The Knights Islet, is an small island in the center of Stockholm, Sweden. The island forms part of Gamla Stan, the old town, and houses a number of private palaces from the 17th century.
We entered the old Parliamentary Building, indeed a good starting point for the history of Stockholm, and with a nice view of the oldest parts of town, i.e. Gamla Stan and surrounding areas.
When we reached the attic, the guides provided security information and equipment ending with a ladder up to the roof. Some of the participants had been given this experience as a surprise gift, and they did not seemed to comfortable with the generosity from their fellow colleagues. As the guide also to us, this is not a tour you should attend without being prepared.
You can decide yourself when you want to conduct this unique tour:Watch the city waking up or going to sleep.
The guided tour lasted approx 60 minutes with short stops on smaller resting spots where you could relax a little while and listen to the stories and view sights you cannot see from the ground. Of course it is a safe walk and rarely no one slips to get rescued, but the guides have been training in case..
Here are some for this tour and other excursions in Stockholm.
Duration of the tour approx 90 minutes in all.
