Småland The Moose Region In Sweden

Småland offers one of the highest concentrations of moose in Sweden.
The county of Småland also offers a total of eight moose parks where you can admire these great animals close up, as well as stroke and feed them.
Not only are they a great attraction for foreign visitors, but equally exciting for Swedes.

The enclosures are large enough for the moose to be comfortable, and each park has its own charm. An excursion to Smålandet on the outskirts of Markaryd is a safari experience putting Kolmården zoo to shame. Drive your car or take a train through the park which is also home to America’s largest land animal – the bison ox. Here the moose gladly push their muzzles into the cars looking for greens to eat. Though the calves born in the spring are still very sweet, they are getting tougher and cocky with time. The flock of bison ox can be hard to speed up when they gather in their masses their heavy bodies around your car.
At the Elinge moose park you can feed the 16-tined Bruno, whilst at Grönåsen in Kosta, you can visit the only pale moose named Askungen (Cinderella) after the ash cloud that hovered in the sky when she was born. The largest park is Isaberg with a total of six hectares. At Laganland there is an exhibition about moose and their lives, as well as one of the first and largest shops selling moose souvenirs. This great animal fascinates many foreign visitors who consider a moose warning sign to be as exotic as a kangaroo for us. The moose is a true tourist magnet.
