Skånes Linnaeus Week opens with Princess Victoria

Alnarps Castle in the heart of the park HRH The Crown Princess Victoria will inaugurate Linnaeus Week in Skåne at 11.00 am on Sunday June 3rd at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp. Alnarp Day, an annual event, is entirely in the spirit of Linnaeus. Organisers from all over Skåne will be showing there and talking about the summer programme. In Alnarp there will be singing and musical entertainment, and guided tours of the beautiful park and the greenhouses. The Linnaeus Tercentenary celebrations will be on between 10.00 and 16.00 in Alnarp, and Linnaeus Week in Skåne between the 2nd and the 10th of June.

The park in Alnarp forms an oasis in the midst of the flat landscape between Malmö and Lund. The park basts one of Swedens biggest arboretums. Man of the trees and bushes foun there are unique for this latitude. There are also many vareties of annuals, perennials and herbs.
In the heart of the park is the castle, built by the Agricultural Institute of Alnarp in 1862. Under the shaddy greenery among leaves and flowers there are delightful natural rooms that lend themselves to picknic and games. If you are eager to know more about old times, you can visit one of Alnarp´s three museums exhibitions, exhibiting objects like tools, machines, carriages and farrery equipment.
