Roskilde Festival in Denmark July 5-8
Roskilde Festival nearby Copenhagen i Denmark l is the largest music festival in Northern Europe – attracting audiences from all over Europe. It is an independent, non-profit festival organised by The Roskilde Festival Society. Today the festival will have visitors in all ages and is an extraordinary experience. Some prefer to live the real festival life at the huge camping area, others prefer comfortabel hotels, Roskilde light they say! Camping areas will open 1 July at 08.00.
The festival presents an up-to-date and progressive music programme ranging
from contemporary rock to electronic music, hip hop and global beats plus an extensive programme of events, art and activities. Each year, more than 170 bands play at seven stages during four days in July Thursday to Sunday.
An extensive environmental programme is implemented, including refund on
bottles and cups. Any profits from the festival are donated to national and international humanitarian charity and cultural purposes.
Roskilde is situated about 35 kilometres west of Copenhagen. Festival guests are advised to use public transport to and from Roskilde Festival. The festival has its “own” train station in the middle of the camping area. There are frequent train connections to Roskilde from Copenhagen (approx. 30 min.) and Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (approx. 35 min.). Roskilde Station has special busses going
to and from the Festival Site and the camping areas.
Roskilde also is also one of the most famous Viking towns in South Scandinavia.
Roskilde Festival was established in 1971 and have since then presented acts such as Arctic Monkeys, Beastie Boys, Björk, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, The Chemical Brothers, Bob Dylan, Fatboy Slim, Foo Fighters, Guns N’ Roses, Korn, Kraftwerk, Marilyn Manson, Bob Marley, Massive Attack, Metallica, New Order, Nirvana, Oasis, Queens Of The Stone Age, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Scissor Sisters, The Streets, The Strokes, Talking Heads, Tool, U2, Underworld, Robbie Williams, Wu-Tang Clan, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The White Stripes og Brian Wilson.
From Sweden the Ark, Timbuktu and The Sounds will attend this year and also Queens Of The Stone Age, John Legend, Roky Erickson, Dizzee Rascal, Lee”Scratch” Perry and Wilco to mention some.
Ticket sales have begun. Price in presale: 200 euro (Europe), 1500 NOK (Norway), 1815 SEK (Sweden), 130 GBP (England), 255 USD (USA), 315 CHF (Switzerland), 1475 DKK (Denmark). Prices include camping and other services.
