Unique Visit To Måkläppen Southern Sweden

Photo Christian van Dyck MåkläppenPut on a warm coat and take a two hours walk to an extraordinary site in Europe: Måkläppen, near Malmö. The nature reserve will be closed to visitors from February until November. Follow the road to Falsterbo Golf Course and start walking. Combine with a city break in Copenhagen or Malmö.There are no short ways so be sure to take the right path. Remember to bring with you some hot coco and sandwiches. I am sure the hotel will be happy to provide you with tasty and healthy walking food. Back at the hotel after the about 4-5 hours expedition some SPA and culinary delights will be a reward too. Or you could just take a city break, Copenhagen is only an hour away!
During the tour on the beach look for treasures! Måkläppen is a finding-place for amber. Here you also could find remains from the Stone Age. Just before Christmas a visitor found a rare stone with insriptions 10 000 years old. The amber museum took care of it.
The island south of Skanör, that has been wholly built up from sand and constantly changes in shape and size as a result of the effects of water and wind. The island is a key breeding site for birds and an important staging post for migrating waders and ducks.

Moreover, it is an important resting and breeding site for grey seal and common seal. In order to protect the animal life, the island and the surrounding waters are only possible to visit during November until January.
Photo Annika Lundh Vellinge Tourism Throughout the year, Skanör heath boasts an interesting bird life. However, the real highlight is in the autumn. Skanör and Falsterbo are positioned like a small jewel in the furthest south west corner of our long country. Surrounded by the sea as the nearest neighbour, nature over millions of years has turned this beautiful area into what it is today. There are many opportunities, winter as well as summer, a variety of different activities, exhibitions and displays. The question is not really is this the biggest experience of all, but rather that when a breezy day makes its way to some of the long miles of beaches the sea will present for you an unforgettable drama. Then it feels like time stands still. An unbelievable luxury, is it not?
