Pompeii At Table A Unique Exhibition in Skåne
There is a unique exhibition in south east Sweden with newly discovered objects from Pompeii. Some of the objects have recently been excavated and have never before been shown to the public. Sounds like a recommended sightseeing tour if you are in the area (near Copenhagen, Lund and Malmö).
The exhibition Pompeis Panem Gustas / Pompeii at Table will take place in the Swedish town Hässleholm (approx 150 km from Copenhagen) 13 September 2008 until 18 January 2009.
Graffiti, murals and a large number of inscriptions, together with well-preserved impressions left by humans and animals surprised by death, tell of an everyday life filled with pleasure and food, company and family life. Pompeis Panem Gustas / Pompeii at Table gives an idea of daily life in this town.
Frescos, pots, dishes and silver bowls illustrate the range of fruit and vegetables at markets, how dishes were cooked in simple bars, and how guests reclining on sofas enjoyed a feast in a wealthy Roman home.
