Partisans of Skåne Northwest
The year is 1678. For three years, Denmark and Sweden have been fighting for power in the south Swedish province of Skåne. The farmers who have suffered under Swedish misrule for years, are caught in the middle. Their only hope of liberty is a Danish victory. So, many of them have abandoned their farms to fight for the Danes.
Those rebels are known as “Partisans” (Snapphanar).
During Christmas season, 2006, Swedish Television will be presenting its viewers with Partisans, a two-part, action-filled tale of heroism, forbidden love and a quest for vengeance. The story is taken place in northwest of Skåne where you can follow the steps of the Partisans. The Partisan Kingdom is a common name for this region. Here the wild nature is blended with interesting historical sites.
One night, a God-fearing young man named Nils Geting loses everything and everyone he holds dear when his farm is burned down and his entire family wiped out by Swedes disguised as Partisans. Thus does he begin his journey of revenge — a journey that now makes him one of the Partisans and participant in a struggle for independence.
