New Wallander movie from Ystad studios
On November 10, 2006 the new Wallander movie “The Secret” (Hemligheten in Swedish), will hit the big screen in Scandinavia. It is the 13th movie with Swedish actor Krister Henriksson as inspector Kurt Wallander. It is also the last in a planned series based upon the character Kurt Wallander. Discussions are in progress whether there will be a new series or not. Decision will come before the end of the year according to Yellowbird, producer of he films. This probably also is the reason why the scenery will be guarded at the visiting centre Cineteket which opened this summer in Ystad.
To take a trip to Ystad and follow in the footsteps of Wallander is a popular activity. The tourist office has produced a special Wallander folder and map with all the important places marked. As a bonus you will experience the magical landscape of Österlen. It is perhaps even more suitable for mindful traveling during this time of the year!
Twice a day there are guided tours in the studios located in the seaside town Ystad.
Here you will learn how the movies “Mastermind” (Wallander) and “Frostbite”(Vampire genre) were made.
It isn’t only Wallander films that are recorded in the Ystad Studios. Other films include the Oscar nominated “Mother of Mine”. Much of the filming is done in the streets and squares of Ystad and in the surrounding countryside. Don’t be surprised if you see actors, props and camera teams around the corner.
