Modern Tree House meets history
What about a meeting in the middle of nowhere high up in the treetops of old beeches? It must have been a childhood dream that came true for the architects of this conference facility.
In addition to wood, the distinctive Tree House rising five metres above the ground is built of glass and steel. The community of Hässleholm had a great success at the recent Life Style Fair presenting this very different building. The treetops are growing right through the floor of the terrace. The setting on the slope above lake Finja provides a wonderful view over the lake and the rural landscape of Hovdala.
Not far from the tree house the modern meets the past. The old Hovdala Manor has been gently renovated during recent years and invites visitors to sense its sometimes violent 900 years of history. Here the rebellious peasants of Skåne (Snapphanar) fought the Swedish occupants. This part of Skåne was an early boarder between Denmark and Sweden and it is full of stories and sites reminiscent of ruthless battles for freedom and domination. The Middle Age churches also bear witness to these troubled times as do the bullets in the oak doors of Hovdala Manor.
Take a walk in the beautiful park, with a rich kitchen garden where the chef can choose his vegetables for the day. The restaurant of Hovdala is famous for its buffets where the old traditional dishes are combined with new influences. Finally, do not miss the chance of a romantic moment under the old engagement oak.
