Magical Lake Oden
Lake Oden in northwest Skåne is said to be like the one eye of the god Odin. The lake is supposed to have no bottom and old stories tell us how a channel leads from the dephts of the lake to the crypt of Lund Cathedral. During summer season there will be romantic, musical evenings performed from a floating platform out on the lake, which is lit up by the flames of torches. Because the water in lake Oden mainly comes from groundwater springs, it is very pure and provides life-sustaining environments to sensitive species of fish and dragon fly larva. According to folklore in tales of old, there lies an air of mystery over this lake. The King Grim who lived in his castle high up on the ridge planned an attack on the newly built Herrevad monastery below (where later on Tycho Brahe lived). The night before the ridge was hit by a burning cross descended from heaven. The ridge was split apart and the king and his men were killed. His Castle was swallowed up into the earth. An angel who had witnessed the event shed a tear over Söderåsen for the lost souls. The tears formed a spring onto broken rock and this flowed so profusely that it created a lake where Grim´s castle had once been. There is no road to the lake so you have to walk for about 1000 m.
