Höganäs Becomes Eurocity In Sweden
From January 2009 the town Höganäs in south west Skåne will accept euro as the second official currency within the community. In belief that other cities in Sweden will follow, the local government decided not to sit and wait. According to the english news “The Local” a Eurocity logo is developed and the authorities think all the counties in Skåne will follow suit within a couple of years.
Höganäs is located a the Kullaberg Penisula with it’s dramatic nature contrasts from steep cliffs, sandy beaches, fishing villages and wine yards! It is also the location of my company Travel Gate Sweden, near to Copenhagen as the nearest international airport.
From January 1st Höganäs residents will be able to pay rent, bills and conduct their shopping in either Swedish kronor or Euros. ATM machines will dispense either currency without additional charge. Hopefully this will also be benefitial for our incoming incentive groups and tour programs.
