Excursion to Kulllen Peninsula and Krapperup

Wood Anemones carpets large areasAt last summer is knocking on our doors! Suddenly we discovered the first sign; the small flowers Wood Road to KrapperupAnemones or Anemones nemorosa carpets large areas. Many says that this is the most beautiful time to visit. Within a couple of weeks the three leaves will hide the sunlight and the white carpet will disappear.

View from the road to KrapperupKullen has each year attracted a steadily increasing stream of visitors from far and near. We took a sunday afternoon just to relax.

In Mölle, the small café in the potters studio was crowded so we went on to Krapperup Castle and Park.

Here we enjoyed a real culinary experience at the castle café, really good tasting and price worthy lunch. Althought the blueberry pie and cakes where tempting we skipped the dessert this time. Before we went home we visited the exhibiton about the 15 000 years of human life in this area. Here the people lived while ice still covered the rest of Sweden.

On the slopes of Kullaberg the vegetation is extremely varied depending on the direction the slope faces. An extremely large number of species occur as well as rarities such as Keeled Garlic and Wild Marjoram. The plant ‘vårvial’ (lathyrus sphaericus – grass peavine) is only found on Kullaberg and one other place in Sweden.

It is amazing to have this place just around the corner. The head image of this site is taken just outside my office! From the book Explorers handbook, Carl Linnaeus in Skåne you will see (p.18) nearly the same view at the painting, so perhaps he was here too!
