There is so much to experience this summer for anyone with an interest in food. Across Skåne, events are running throughout the year.

There are many festivals, themed days, markets and fairs aimed directly at those of you with an interest in food from Skåne. Be inspired, buy the dinner of the day, sample something new and enjoy the year’s food events.

Ängelholm Flower & Garden Show, July 20–21

Helsingborg Festival, July 26–28, Helsingborg

A city festival offering something for everyone in terms of food, music and entertainment.

Skillinge Gooseberry Festival, July 28, Skillinge

The gooseberry festival in Skillinge is a gathering for adults and children, and residents and guests from far and near. Gooseberry competitions, gooseberry café, outdoor quiz, lotteries, gooseberry drawing competition and more. Best in show – the most beautiful berry – is presented.

Österlen Harvest Festival, August 5, Svenstorp/Tosterup

Harvested food from the local area, children’s activities, old fashioned market with doughnuts, sweets and an extensive handicraft exhibition. Plus plenty of song, music and dance.

Crayfish Days, August 4–8, Hallongården, Trelleborg

Food from Skåne at Smyge, August 7–8, Köpmansmagasinet, Smygehuk

Sampling and sale of ‘äggkaka’ with accompaniments, hot dogs, coffee party with seven sorts of cakes, breads, smoked sausage, honey, marmalade, ostrich products, pies with mushroom, vegetables, rapeseed oil, biscuits and ‘spettekaka’ baking from Skåne, and more.

Herb Walk, August 15 – Fredriksdal Museum and Gardens


Join a tour of the herb garden. Hear advice and tips about how to succeed in growing herbs at home, and how to use the herbs in cooking.

Food from all corners of the world, music, theatre, markets, concerts, art, author talks, children and family adventures, fun sports and much more.

Harvest Day this year will be the sixteenth in a row.

Garden festival at Landskrona, August 17–19
With extravagant rafts, beautiful bouquets, markets, garden advice, music, harvest festival and garden talks – everything green is celebrated in Landskrona.

The Great Garden Party, August 24–26, Sofiero Palace


Creative garden art and trends are presented from Berlin, London and Alnarp. The fine traditions of Hidcote Manor Garden make a visit, and build a small English plant paradise. Concept gardens, inspiration for beginners and experts alike, unusual plants, flower arrangements, competitions and garden fair.

Herring Day, August 28, Simrishamn

On Herring Day, herring takes centre stage! Displays of fishing boats, smoke houses, performances, competitions and herring of course! Herring in abundance, and in all varieties at the town’s restaurants.

‘Surströmming’ (fermented Baltic herring) Day, August 28–29 and September 4–5

Soft and hard flat bread is baked in stone ovens in a traditional way. Farm shop with local delicacies featuring produce from Norrland.

Ecotour September 1–2, throughout Skåne

Ecological farms from Skåne invite you to enjoy exciting activities such as stories about the farms, growing tricks and tips, scent competitions, ecology, flower walks, chance to drive a tractor, pick-your-own, competitions, opportunities to stroke animals, guided walks and much more. And of course plenty of fresh and good food to enjoy!

Harvest Festival in Båstad and Bjärehalvön, September 27–30

Growers and food producers from Bjäre are invited to dinner Thursday to Sunday.

Goose and Golf, October 26–28

Bjäre’s excellent golf courses are at their best when other courses have already closed. Skåne geese are plump, and the apples, red cabbage, ‘Brussels sprouts’ and rowanberries are ripe. Visit Bjäre over a weekend, play golf and enjoy a genuine goose menu.
