Day 2. Malmö – Ystad – approx 88 km
Additional map from
1. Svedala Town, cycling roads in red (print)
2. Malmö – Trelleborg, biking path (pdf)

Pick up your bike at the rental company. The biking tour to Ystad could be alongside the biking romeleåsencoast or with hills and forests over the Romeleridge.
The ridge road to Ystad could be planned like this:
Northern trail with forests: From Malmö via Sallerup to Genarp and Häckerberga, to Sövde and Ystad. More information from this route will follow.

Or – the flat country (not so flat though); head for blue trail towards Svedala(trail No. 2, official Skane Map) which also cross the ridge Romeleasen. also called the “Castle Area”. Here are some suggested highlights from this very informative website with maps and descriptions, easy to follow.
“Take the old road from Svedala south to Aggarp. The village is on the right of the road and you will see the windmill a bit further on to your left.

Continue south from Aggarp’s mill and cross road 108. The road winds its way towards Alstad. Follow the path and you can see a row of rare Field Maple at the farm on your left. This is the only place in Sweden where it grows wild, and the leaves are integrated into Svedala ‘ s coat-of-arms. Soon you’ll have a view of the wide landscape to the south and on the left you can see the steep, tree-clad Ullbergskroken. Turn left at the crossroads towards Ugglarp. You could also take a shortcut from Svedala to N. Lindholmen.

Continue north from the Lindholmen castle ruin towards Börringekloster (Monastary). Börringekloster Castle is beautifully situated at Klosterviken, an inlet of Lake Börringe.
Head for Näsbyholm castle high on a hill (just south from Skurup) in otherwise flat surroundings. This was one of Skåne’s largest lakes until many lake surfaces were lowered in the 19th Century. The area is still wet and large areas overflow in the spring, attracting lots of birdlife.

From Näsbyholm continue oest to Hässle Bösarp, Västra Nöbbelöv, Svarte and Ystad town.
The castle Marsvinsholm could be worth a small detour. The park is open to public.

Day 3. Ystad
Explore Ystad the old picturesque resort on the south coast. The old half-timbered houses made of oak and hand-made bricks, and the grand 19th century mansions tell their own tale. Stroll along the narrow alleys, the pedestrian streets with small shops, take a break at the book café (!). Other attractions in Ystad are: The night watchman in the tower of the St Maria Church and the monastery – and the beaches. A visit to the tourist office just across the railway station will give tips for best sightseeing tours depending on your interest.

Day 4. Ystad – Simrishamn (approx 45-50 km)
Resources:
Road map pdf. Choose Österlen, Green trail for biking paths, yellow signs.

Continue east by following the biking trail near the sea, pass Ystad Sandskog (beach forest) and head for the magic of Ale stenar in Kåseberga (Ale Stone) to enjoy the views across the sea and the countryside. The road before Kåseberga will be downhill so you will not have the ocean view. I suggest you make a stop and walk up the hill – it is a beautiful view over the landscape. During summer this road could be with a lot of traffic.

Taste the freshly smoked fish in the little harbour before you continue. Follow the beautiful coast to Simrishamn, but make a detour to experience the old medieval fortress Glimmingehus some kilometres north of Skillinge. Continue to the small fishing village Brantevik and Simrishamn. Just before you get into the town there will be runic stones. Enjoy your stay at the hotel not far from the harbour. Take an evening seaside walk to the beach just north from the harbour and have an evening dinner by the sea or return to the main street and out door restaurants.

The next 5 days will follow..
