Hamlet – Just a Ferry Away
Helsingborg is the only town in Sweden where it is possible to stand in the centre, watching a ferry leave the town and dock abroad. Standing on the beach you see the castle of Hamlet Kronborg quite near. Ferries to Denmark ply the Sound around the clock. It is not a surprise that the town has become a centre for transport and communication operators. World renowned companies like IKEA have not unexpectedly decided to establish themselves in Helsingborg.

Early in the morning you see them coming in bath robes and towels and swimsuits towards piers and beaches. A quick refreshing swim and then home again. Never have you tasted a more delicious breakfast than after a chilly plunge in the sea. Some have made this a habit all year round. Even in November you will meet the bath robe people hurrying down the streets. Have you ever heard of the great New Years plunge? Hundreds of people in masquerade suits just throwing themselves into cold water. Ugh! Today with this summer heat going, you will feel as good as new after the morning swim.
