Drottningholms Slottsteater opens to yet another eventful and exciting season. We invite you to this exquisitely beautiful theatre where experiences musical, magic, humorous and innovative are designed to entertain and inspire you. The first production of the year, Il matrimonio segreto – Cimarosa’s most famous comedy – pays appropriate homage to true love during the same month as the wedding of Princess Madeleine! In August you will be able to enjoy Mozart’s masterpiece, La Clemenza di Tito – with an international ensemble of stars and the wonderful Swedish Radio Choir in an opera where fellow feeling and reconciliation prevail over evil.
Follow the local guide on a tour that will take you into the public rooms surrounding the auditorium, into the auditorium where the magic of the stage and the splendid decorations will almost come to live, and end up in the beautiful Déjeuner Salon looking out over the English garden. You will hear the sound of the thunder box and the wind machine or experience an aria and a famous orchestra piece, if there are rehearsals! A visit to Drottningholms Slottsteater will convey impressions of theatre life in the 18th century and give a better understanding of our living cultural heritage.
