31 Local Markets in Skane 2008

kiviks_marknad-jochr.jpgWherever you go there will be a local market in Skane, starting in Lövestad April 13 and finish in October 25 in Höganäs. Here local handcrafts will blend with innovative kitchen ware, colourful clothes, culinary traditionals – all to bargain prices. It is also a meeting point for old friends and family members. If not before, this is a reason to rejoin (at least once a year).
On the first Thursday in July every year since 1748, the Hörby Market (Hörby Marknad) is held. It attracts thousands of visitors and is one of the three main traditional markets in Skåne together with the markets of Kivik and Sjöbo.
Also there are many food markets in Skåne, although most are set up in late summer and early autumn. The more famous markets include the herring market in Skanör, the asparagus festival in Skillinge, Pear Day in Båstad and the apple market in Kivik.
