It is hardly surprising that Skåne has become a centre for gastronomy and food technology.

If you pick up your car in Malmö, stop for lunch or a coffee brake at the new harbour area where the famous twisted building Turning Torso is situated as well as some very good restaurants.
Day 1 Drive on north about 20 kilometres to the thousand-year-old university town, Lund. The city also has a dramatically past marked by among other things two shifts between Danish and Swedish governing powers. Lund offers a rich cultural life that to this day reveals traits of its period of greatness as a religious, political, cultural and mercantile forum throughout the centuries. Charming city environs invite to rambles and expeditions along pleasant medieval alleys. Cafés, boutiques, restaurants, green parks and market trading blend with museums, galleries, entertainment life and a beautiful past. The cathedral, which is the main tourist attraction in Skåne, is certainly worth a visit as well as the open-air museum, Kulturen.

Day 2. After a nice breakfast buffet, drive cross Skåne, on small country roads over the ridge to the east coast and the village Åhus on the Baltic seaside. Here one could find wealthy commoners, tough lads, widely travelled skippers and learned monks and scholars. This was Åhus, as it became market town in 1149. The more recent historiography only deals with what the inhabitants of Åhus calls the three sins; eel, tobacco and distilled spirits. Today approximately 100 million litres Absolut Vodka, manufactured in Åhus, is sold around the world. That makes it the third most sold sort of spirit. During the season, October-November, eel parties with a smorgasbord of eel dishes are arranged. The eel huts on the wide sandy beaches in the bay are well worth a visit

Your overnight stay will be at the old inn Gästgifvaregården, which is situated in the old part of Åhus dating back to the 12th century. You stay in double rooms and are invited to a five-course dinner in the evening. In the room you will find fruits, candy and sparkling wine. Of course you will also have a bathtub and bathrobes with your room! Experience the delightful pleasure of the food, where the menu is set both by season and availability of the local products.

Day 3. After a delightful breakfast you drive south alongside the Baltic coast. Suggestion for a lunch break: Buhres delicious fish restaurant in the harbour at Kivik. You should also pay a visit to the apple juice brewery, Kiviks musteri.
From Kivik drive another 50 kilometres to your next gourmet experience at the hotel Mötesplats (Meeting place) Österlen.
Between Ystad and Simrishamn, on the open plain between Hannes and Löderup, is an old school that has been carefully converted into an exclusive hotel and conference facility with a gourmet restaurant. The stone wings blend harmoniously into an inviting landscape. The view is spectacular, and the sea is close at hand. It has been said that the heavens are nowhere as wide as in Österlen, where open country and sky dominate a landscape filled with space and light.

Day 4. After breakfast it is time to go back. It is about 90 kilometres drive to Malmö. Before crossing the bridge, a lunch in the centre of Malmö is recommended. Here you will find among others the restaurant Årstiderna, one of the finest tables in Skåne. This will be a worthy final to your gourmet trip in Skåne.
