2D/1N Cycling Tour In Stockholm Area
Day 1: Stendörren → Trosa → Tullgarn’s Palace
Your trip starts at Stendörren Nature Reserve, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the world because of its distinct feeling of peace and tranquillity in an unspoilt nature. Here you can choose to explore the reserve and hike across the many islands using their intriguing system of suspension bridges, or swim in the clean, refreshing Baltic waters before starting your cycle journey. You then cycle along country lanes through the varied countryside; evergreen forests, meadows and lakes at times coming off road to get closer to the nature. You head towards the seaside town of Trosa where you take a break to enjoy the village atmosphere. Trosa is a charming 17th century town called ‘the World’s End’ because it of its location on the banks of the Baltic Sea with endless views of the ocean all around.
The little square, surrounded by old wooden houses, marks the centre of town and the walkway along the canal as it winds its way to the ocean is not to be missed.
You then continue back on your bikes to your overnight accommodation in the grounds of Tullgarn’s Palace, an 18th century palace located on the seashore with magnificent views of the Baltic waters.
Day 2: Tullgarn’s Palace → Mariefred
This morning, you cycle from Tullgarn’s Palace to Laxne along the shores of beautiful Lake Klämmingen where you have plenty of opportunity to stop and swim in the clear waters. At Laxne, you can make a short stop in the small village shop for refreshments before continuing on towards the charming village of Mariefred through pine forests dotted with lakes glistening through the trees. Mariefred, founded in 1605 is famed for its narrow, winding streets and colourful, wooden houses as well as being home to one of the most important and magnificent castles in the region, Gripsholm.
