Location: Lake Mälaren (the crayfish are not found in the saltwater of the Baltic)
Distance from Stockholm town, approx. 20 km, or 45 mins by bus or car

A crayfish dinner with freshly cooked, Swedish crayfish, fresh prawns, pies, salads and delicious cheeses. Wine or beer is included with your meal, and not to forget of course the all important schnapps, accompanied by classic drinking songs.

Crayfishing:
We gather in the large barn to run through the evening’s activities. After the introduction and once everyone is ready, our horse arrives pulling a cart filled with newly pressed hay bales for you to sit on. Once seated, we head down to the lake where you are met with stacks of crayfish cages, our crayfishing instructors and their boats.

They then take you out to the lake to put out the cages. Once the cages are in the lake, we return to the barn where our waiting staff welcome you, and of course the delicious crayfish dinner is prepared and waiting. Once the finger licking is over, with full stomachs and wetted throats, we return to the hay cart and head back to the lake to reap our rewards. A moment of excitement as you contemplate:

–       Who will find their cages in the darkness?

–       Who has caught crayfish in their cages?

When all the crayfish have been emptied, we round off the day with our classic competition – the crayfish race. A well appreciated race where the fastest crayfish wins a deserving prize.
