Including Stockholm, Lake Vättern, Göta Canal, Dalarna and Uppsala

Day 1, Arrive to Sweden, Arlanda airport, meet with your guide and coach
Transfer to Stockholm and enjoy a panoramic city tour of the famous sights including the Royal Palace and Parliament Buildings. View the 13th century Storkyrkan Cathedral – the oldest church in Stockholm.
We also pass by the old royal hunting grounds on the island of Djurgården where a string of magnificent mansions line the shore. Today, Djurgården makes up a part of Stockholm´s national city park.

The tour ends late afternoon at your hotel, located approx. 20 minutes south of Stockholm. Check in for three nights at the hotel – located within walking distance of popular shopping areas, cultural points of interest and entertainment venues. The area is alive with boats; from ferries shuttling you around the city, to sailboats and yachts cruising out into the vast archipelago that stretches far into the Baltic Sea. The hotel also has a gym, sauna and sundeck.

A weekend in Old town 2. After breakfast, drive to Stockholm city for an exclusive city tour with our guide. Visit the old town, the markets and shopping areas for Swedish design products. In the afternoon, cruise to the archipelago island of Vaxholm for a walk around the island to explore “island life” just a stone’s throw from Stockholm.
Extras: During the cruise there is the possibility to buy food and snacks onboard. Optional; a prebooked seated lunch.
Day 3. Free day for own excursions. There is a direct commuter train to Stockholm city from the hotel.
Optional hiking tour – half day. After lunch, there is the option to enjoy a hiking tour through a national park located on the outskirts of Stockholm (coffee break included during the tour). Close by your hotel one of the most unspoilt areas of natural beauty in central Sweden is located – Tyresta National Park and Nature Reserve. The area is characterised by a rift valley landscape which is typical for central Sweden but unique in an international perspective. One of the hiking routes, the Primeval Forest Trail (Urskogsstigen), provides the perfect introduction to Tyresta National Park. It is 2.5 kilometres long and along the route there are boards with information, some of which are designed for children.
Optional bus tour – full day. Enjoy a tour to visit Trosa, Nyköping, Tullgarn palace, Stendörren nature reserve and its archipelago. We also offer an Inga Lindström tour (popular for our German guests).
Göta Canal BoatDay 4. Check out after breakfast. Today we have an early start in order to arrive in time to take the cruise on the Göta Canal – the waterway that stretches from Gothenburg to Stockholm. The cruise starts in Motala and glides slowly between the banks of the canal. Have your cameras ready as we pass by small idyllic wooden houses, exciting locks, pretty lock houses, forests, open landscape, people out for a stroll or cycle ride, sheep and cows watching as you sail by. Enjoy a typical lunch onboard before the cruise ends in Borensberg where your coach will be waiting. Head north and pass the little town Askersund on the tip of Lake Vättern.
Your hotel in Örebro is centrally situated amid shopping, entertainment and restaurants. Nearby you find the Örebro Medieval Castle, the City Garden and Wadköping open-air museum with exhibitions, craftsmen and café.
The Hotel was built in 2001 and has 136 rooms, and offers conference facilities, restaurant and bar as well as a welcoming relax area on the top floor with gym, sauna, jacuzzi and SPA.
Day 5. Check out after breakfast, Today we head north to the region of Dalarna, often referred to as the heart of Sweden. Check in for two nights at your hotel located in the World Heritage city of Falun in a scenic region of Dalarna or Dalecarlia to English speakers. Close by can be found the Falun copper mine, the spectacular Dalhalla outdoor theatre and the home of the famous painter Carl Larsson in Sundborn.
Day 6. A full day to explore ‘the heart of Sweden’. Here they produce the famous souvenir Dalahäst – a red painted wooden horse – and you also have the opportunity to meet with bears.
Day 7. Check out after breakfast and drive back to Uppsala, located north of Stockholm and close by Arlanda airport.
Check in to your hotel in Uppsala.
Cathedral in UppsalaDay 8. Departure. Depending on your departure time, you may have time to visit the famous Uppsala cathedral, the magnificent Silver Bible and the Old Uppsala museum with burial grounds from the Viking era. Just outside the city centre can be found the Old Uppsala Museum.
