The Ultimate Golf Experience from South to North in Scandinavia

This is a tour idea that will take you to the edge of exciting nature and culture experience in the Nordic countries Denmark and Sweden. Visit the capital cities, famous and exotic golf courses and interesting sites. The tour idea will give a travel package for 10 days or more  with possibilities for adjustment to suit your own itinerary and interest. It is a luxury travel with accommodation in selected hotels. Depending on timetables for domestic flights and accessibility for tee times the itinerary should be regarded as a possible tour idea for a wonderful golf experience.

 

Tour Idea – Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Malmö/Copenhagen area

Cross the bridge to your hotel in countryside, with food to die for and eco friendly beautiful atmosphere. Stay 3 nights

Optional before going to the hotel, play in Copenhagen:

Just 15 kilometres north in the wealthy enclave of Klampenborg, whose residents are lucky enough to have the pleasant Bellevue Beach nearby. Here you also find Dyrehaven (Deer Park), where herds of wild deer roam freely. Once the favored hunting grounds of Danish royals, today Dyrehaven has become a cherished weekend oasis for Copenhageners. The park’s centerpiece is the copper-top, 17th-century Eremitagen, formerly a royal hunting lodge.

Day 2. Southern district of Sweden; Skåne
The landscape in between Denmark and Sweden are something for itself. This part of Sweden belonged to Denmark some

350 years ago, which still has influence on culture and daily life. It is a seaside district with the Öresund Golf/sound in western and the Baltic sea in eastern. The mild climate and long tradition for golf make this a golfers paradise with more than 60 beautiful and challenging courses to choose among.

Natural water hazards and many large sand bunkers are some of the characteristics. The course is situated in a nature reserve area at the tip of Sweden’s southwest peninsula, where the Öresund and the Baltic Sea meet.

It started, like a few good ideas do, with a bottle of whisky. The difference with this idea was, it actually still seemed fairly good the morning after, and, definitely achievable. It did take however 13 years for Mikael Sorling to see his dream of the very first Swedish PGA golf course near Malmö and Malmö Airport.

Rya Golf Club is one of the oldest in Sweden. It is located in an area of great natural beauty around 10 km south of Helsingborg, offering stunning views of the Sound and Denmark. The course is a park and seaside course, and several of the holes are said to be among the best in the country.

Day 4. Skåne  – Stockholm
Domestic air flight to Stockholm, Arlanda Airport, and transfer (approx 50 kilometres north) to Bro – Bålsta where the famous female Swedish golf player Annika Sörenstam was born and grew up. Meet some of her acquaintances to tell about her career and play at her home course.

Overnight stay in first class hotel in Stockholm City. We also offer historical manor houses like the fairy-tale castle Lejondal as an optional accommodation. Lejondal Castle is beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Lejondal offering rich opportunities for fishing and bathing. The natural beauty of the surrounding countryside and parks, along with the castle’s beautiful brick-rose colour certainly motivate its designation as a The castle – one of Sweden’s latest – was built by Baroness Louise De Geer (1852 1935) in 1892.

Transfer to Arlanda Airport and domestic flight to Swedish Lapland.
Two Overnight stay in the “Fjällhotell” (Mountain Hotel).
Visit to the exotic and magical wilderness and experience the Midnight Sun.

Day 8 – 9  Björkliden Golf Course, Swedish Lapland
Björkliden is located in the Swedish Lapland, 250 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. The area offers fantastic scenery with great mountains and big lakes in. Here in Europe’s last wilderness you can experience real midwinter, northern light and a wide variety of exiting winter activities. During July there is 24-hour daylight and it is possible to play golf in the midnight sun. You are not allowed to bring a wagon on the course and you will understand why as you approach the first tee. Around you there will be 360-degree view of magnificent scenery. Torne Lake and Lapporten are signs to admire.
This course involves some tricky holes and long, crooked fairways with big differences in altitude. Despite the high altitude and the location far up in the north, the grass is emerald green and the greens are in very good shape. The course is open from the middle of June until late September.

Day. 10  Stockholm Capital of Sweden
Have a city tour in Stockholm; visit the Royal Castle, the old town and the archipelago.
One overnight stay in first class design hotel in the center of the city.

 

Day 11 Even in Stockholm City you will the possibility to play first class golf at Ullna GC.
This course designed by Mr Sven Tumba a Swedish Hockey icon and golf pioneer, was established in 1981. HRH Prince Bertil officially inaugurated the golf course on August 27, 1981. It is a private golf club with 574 members located on the banks of Lake Ullna about 15 minutes north of Stockholm’s City Centre.
